Greg joined Lewis & Knopf, PC in 1991, after obtaining his certification. Currently, he serves as a Principal at Lewis & Knopf, specializing in service to closely-held businesses. Greg describes his ideal client as a midsized business with a specific vision for growth and expansion. He also enjoys working with client’s who are looking for a trusted advisor.
Greg currently provides assurance, tax, and consulting services for a wide range of entities with an emphasis on the auto dealership, retail trade, oil and gas distribution, and construction industries. His detailed knowledge of state and local taxation issues makes him a real asset to clients with multi-state operations.
Additionally, Greg heads up the firm’s Cost Segregation Group, helping clients maximize depreciation deductions on new or remodeled buildings in order to minimize tax liabilities. In a recent cost segregation engagement, Greg partnered with BDO Seidman to complete a study for a $4.7 million building project. This study generated a current year tax savings of approximately $120,000 for our client.
Greg believes in the value of hard work. His service motto is: “You’ve got to enjoy what you do and have fun – and your work product will show it!”
Greg’s enthusiasm and positive attitude pays off for his clients. Recently, he assisted a client with the acquisition of a new franchise, more than doubling the client’s annual sales. In another engagement, Greg assisted a client with the merger of 23 entities, providing significant savings in tax, insurance, payroll, overhead and professional fees.
Beyond his passion for client service, Greg enjoys officiating for football, baseball and softball, especially when his kids are involved! When he’s not on the sport’s field, he enjoys camping and reading.
Greg was born in Holly, Michigan. He currently resides in Flushing, Michigan with his wife and two children.
