Employee Spotlight – Michael Krampe

What year did you join Lewis & Knopf?

I joined the firm in September of 2015 and currently work as a tax manager. I have been in public accounting for twenty six years.

Tell me a little about where you attended college and the degree(s) you earned.

I attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting.

What is your favorite thing about living in Michigan?

I love the Great Lakes and the seasonal weather—it’s amazing to live in a place where you can experience all four seasons in the same day!

Tell me a little about your family.

I have a “Yours, Mine, and Ours” scenario: I am married to my beautiful wife, Joanne, and we have seven amazing children, ranging in age from 10 to 25. Family is very important to us—Joanne and I both come from big families. I enjoy watching my children grow and succeed.

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

I would spend more time with my older children who are away at college or on their own—time goes by way too fast and I miss the good times with them when they were younger!

What is a new skill that you would like to master?

My wife, family, and friends would say that I need to learn to be more mechanically inclined. My skill has always been in accounting, but I would love to be able to fix something in our house when it breaks rather than hiring someone else to do it.

What do you wish you knew more about?

I am a member of the Lewis & Knopf team for School Audits—I want to continue to learn more about this type of audit and become a greater asset to the team.

What’s the farthest you’ve ever been from home?

I went to St. Martin on a vacation with my beautiful wife. One day, we hope to take our dream vacation to Bora Bora.

What was the best compliment you’ve ever received?

Definitely the many compliments that my wife and I have received about our children. It puts a smile on my face knowing that we’ve raised them right and it shows to others.

If you had a clock that would countdown to any one event of your choosing, what event would you want it to count down to?

A University of Michigan Football National Championship.
