Joel began his career in public accounting in 2007, where he served as a junior accountant at Lewis & Knopf. In 2009, a move to South Carolina landed him at Webster Rogers, where he eventually became a tax manager. He returned to Michigan and Lewis & Knopf in 2013, and now serves as a manager in the firm’s Fenton Office. He is responsible for handling complex tax returns and multi-state tax issues. Joel works with clients in a variety of industries, including small businesses, manufacturing, medical, auto dealerships, and school districts. He also serves the firm as a member of both the tax and marketing committees.
Joel has been instrumental in the growth and success of a number of clients over the years. Specifically, analyzing the best structure for a large C-Corporation client looking to switch to an S-Corporation for future tax savings. In another instance, he assisted a client with setting up the correct structure for their
A motivated professional, Joel’s coworkers describe him as hard working and friendly. His personal service philosophy is to “always deliver the best client service on a timely basis and at an affordable price.” Joel explains that he chose to pursue a career in accounting because it “was just something that clicked for me and made sense.” He loves that the industry offers him the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients. Joel is very goal driven and attributes his success to working hard and always keeping the end result in the forefront of his mind.
A resident of Fenton, Michigan, Joel enjoys the community’s small-town feel, despite recent growth. In his free time, Joel enjoys football, golf, beach volleyball, and spending time with his son, Kole.
